If you miss any part of it, you will be sorry.
My best advice is to watch it from beginning to end without leaving the TV screen. This is all very complicated, and to make it even worse, Mark the detective falls in love with Laura too-first as a life size portrait over the mantle and then as the real person. Or was it a mistake? Or did Laura kill the person who was murdered? She was away at an isolated country cabin at the time of the murder, and someone else was killed by mistake. There is Ann Treadwell (Dame Judith Anderson), who wants Shelby Carpenter as her lover too and pays him for his favors. There is Waldo Lydecker (Clifton Webb), her employer and "wanna be" boyfriend, whom Laura spurned for Shelby Carpenter. There is Shelby Carpenter (Vincent Price), who was her fiance and a gigolo too. For about 1/2 of the movie we think she is dead as we hear the stories of the different people she was associated with. Dana Andrews plays detective Mark McPherson searching for the murderer of Laura Hunt (Gene Tierney) in this classic film noir movie of the 1940s.
